Founded by John Amzi Ikard in the early 1940's. Ikards started as a propane and appliance store. Later in 1956, John Milton Ikard added furniture to the family's appliance store on Main Street. In 1966 John built the present Ikard's furniture at Lohman and Main. The new store featured furniture displayed on two levels. The company has always been owned and operated by the Ikard family, with current ownership and responsibility passing on to Chris and Justin since 2001.

Today, Ikards remains one of the most recognizable and successful privately-held, home-furnishings retailer in the western United States.
